Who We Are
We are your friends and neighbors. We are business people, social activists, tribal members, students, retired folks and average folks you see on the street every day. We are committed to building a resilient, self-reliant community on the Northcoast. Please join us!
In November 2013 the partner groups organized the first local “Re-skilling” event called The Sustainable Living Fair held at the Jefferson Community Center. Focusing on teaching basic skills – winter gardening, mushroom cultivation, home canning & preserving, composing and “vermiculture” and other important techniques – the workshops were a big hit.
In 2015 we launched the first Interculture Skill Share Gathering at Redwood Acres. Our intent was to "cross-pollinate" between various local communities - Permaculture, Homesteading and Tribal. For the first event we offered 42 workshops over a two day event and it was a big success! Over 150 people attended and all gave glowing reports of how much they learned and enjoyed the event.
Our focus for our 2nd Annual event is teaching living skills that help build community resiliency – self-reliance in a time of rapid change. Over 150 community members participated in our first event last year at Redwood Acres. This is the second time that we've invited the Permaculture, Tribal and Homesteading communities to join us and we'll be gathering on Oct. 8th - 10th at Redwood Acres in Eureka. Come join us for this exciting event!
